Today’s top Queensland baby names
Australia’s state of Queensland, also known as the Sunshine State, takes up the north-east part of the continent. In 2005, the state reached a population level of more than 4 million — however, the area has been populated for at least 40,000 years by Indigenous Australians and settlers from nearby islands. (A couple famous Queenslanders known internationally: Keith Urban and “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin.)
While today the area is best known for the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and the city of Brisbane, the state was formerly a British colony, and named in honor of Queen Victoria. The British influence is still very present in this list of the most popular baby names. Here’s the Queensland top 31 baby names for boys and girls in the year 2010!
