Malta is a group of seven islands in the Mediterranean Sea just south of Sicily. The area has played a role in much of the world’s history, and some of the natives are descendants of ancient Carthaginians and Phoenicians. More recently, however, their society reflects the fact that they were under British rule until 1964. Traditionally, the Maltese culture emphasizes fertility, with one of their proverbs being, “A childless marriage cannot be a happy one.” With that, here are the top 20 names for the baby boys and girls born in Malta during 2010!
